The 18th European Congress and Exhibition on Advanced Materials and Processes (FEMS EUROMAT 2025) took place in Granada from September 14th to 18th, bringing together leading voices in materials science, with a dedicated symposium on Energy Storage (E4).

As part of the E4 programme, partner IDENER R&D delivered an oral presentation on SUNSON’s progress, titled “3D Simulations of Ultra-High Temperature Phase-Change Material Storage for Thermophotovoltaic Conversion: The SUNSON-BOX Approach.”

The work presented focused on the research and development of thermal energy storage models using phase change materials (PCM) to assess the system’s operations and performance, as well as laying the groundwork for a tool for storage management and system control.

Given the strong alignment between the congress topics and SUNSON’s line of research, EUROMAT 2025 also represented a valuable opportunity to connect with future partners and stakeholders, supporting the project´s dissemination and clustering activities with other initiatives in the field.

The event also featured contributions from SUNSON’s sister project COOPERANT, reinforcing the strong links between the two initiatives in advancing high-temperature thermal energy storage technologies.
