

The Spanish specialized publication “Energías Renovables” covered the launch of the SUNSON project, highlighting its ambition to store solar energy at temperatures exceeding 1,200°C, more than double the operating temperature of existing solar thermal plants.
The article spotlights the project’s core technology, which combines phase change materials for ultra-high temperature heat storage with thermophotovoltaic converters that directly transform incandescence into electricity. It also underlines the relevance of the project in the context of Spain being the world’s leading country in installed solar thermal power capacity.
